foburg 2012 lineup features music, film and comedy

Now in its third year, foburg returns in 2012 with three days of music, film and comedy at more than 10 venues in the Marigny and Bywater, featuring 100 acts over March 9-10.

The festival's headlining bands thus far include Maps & Atlases, Japanther, J Roddy Walston & The Business, The Men, The Pharmacy, and Big Freedia. Local acts slotted to perform include Sun Hotel, Caddywhompus, Rotary Downs, Katey Red, Sissy Nobby, Brass Bed, Jean-Eric, Royal Teeth, King Rey and Royal Teeth.

New this year is the foburg.film component, produced by Jon Jackson and Time Code NOLA, and it'll spotlight feature films and shorts submitted my local and international filmmakers. The 24 Hour Film Festival also returns, with foburg.film, where filmmakers have 24 hours to produce a music video for an artist performing at the festival. The New Movement helms foburg.comedy, another new addition this year. Comedy performances will be held at The New Movement's new theater (opening next month) at 1919 Burgundy St. Performers include improv and sketch crew Stupid Time Machine, and Cyrus Cooper, Dane Faucheux, Chris Trew, Drew Platt and others.
