Rumor: Microsoft Office For iPad Arrives In November

The Office suite of products may be the most popular suite of productivity applications available on the Windows OS, but there are many other operating systems available through which Microsoft can try and grow their market share.

One area which is seeing considerable growth is the tablet market and this niche is currently dominated by iOS and Android. As such, Microsoft would like to develop their footprint on these two operating systems and the report is that by this November, we can expect to see Microsoft launch Office for both Android tablets as well as the iPad. In the past, we have seen third party companies such as CloudOn and OnLive try and deliver productivity tools for these tablets, but this time around, it will be Microsoft themselves that will be delivering Office. The November timing of this launch seems just about perfect considering the fact that Microsoft is working on a Metro-styled Office that has been optimized for Windows 8 tablets. This is expected to be available in October and assuming all goes well with this launch, we can expect to see Microsoft expand their Office applications to both Android tablets and the iPad in the following month.

Interestingly enough, although we have been focussing on Office becoming available on the iPad, indications are that it may in fact be ?Office for iOS? meaning that Office will work on any Apple product running iOS.
