Purpose:The?Manager of Business Readiness manages the day-to-day activities and processes of the Business Readiness Function. The key objective is to manage the definition and establishment of all supporting Business Readiness processes, procedures, programs and associated documentation and ensure that the Business Readiness process is effectively followed for each project in the pipeline through all Capital Effectiveness Stages in accordance with the project Execution Plan, providing value by helping to ensure that each Project is adequately prepared for transition to Operations in order to achieve the Project Objectives.?Essential Duties:
  • Develop and establish Business Readiness processes to lead, track and report Business Readiness activities to effectively ensure Projects are adequately prepared for transition to Operations.
  • Working with Project Business Readiness Leads and Gatekeeper, assist relevant functions in developing appropriate Business Readiness Strategies, Plans and Execution Plans at appropriate project stages.
  • Ensure Newmont standards, practices and guidelines are appropriately applied to projects during definition, design, build and handover.
  • Participate in project Independent Reviews and Business Readiness Checks, representing as directed, Business Readiness Function interests to ensure Business Readiness is being executed in accordance with previously developed Business Readiness Strategies and Execution Plans.
  • Oversee execution of Business Readiness Execution Plans across all relevant functions within projects to ensure staffing, training, business processes, systems and tools are in place, integrated, fit-for-purpose and fully functional.
  • Develop and implement process and systems to ensure the regular review, updating and dissemination of materials.?
  • Participate in Business Readiness Check Process at appropriate project stages, helping to ensure that they are properly performed, overseeing the execution of the Business Readiness Plan created in Stage 4.
  1. Determine BR Check resources required, in collaboration with the AFE Manager (or delegate), for high risk/opportunity areas of the project.
  2. Follow-up to ensure activities and milestones are occurring as scheduled.? Communicate progress against scope, schedule and budget to AFE Manager and supervisor.
  3. Enable BR Check resources by coordinating materials from previous Stages (i.e. Independent Review Reports, Risk Assessments, Gatekeeper Reviews).
  4. Support BR Check resources as needed, escalating any issues or road-blocks encountered by resources.
  5. Consolidate findings from BR Checks.? Prepare summary report to be communicated to be to Project Team, key stakeholders, Regional Vice Presidents, Senior Leadership Team, Global Operations Team and Chief Operating Officer.? This summary report will be inclusive of deficiencies, opportunities for improvement, risk analysis, remediation options and best practice recommendations.?
  • Inform relevant stakeholders of any issues and risks with the execution of the BR Check Process.
  • Provide expertise on Business Readiness Check Process and act as a point of contact for Stage Team to smoothly and efficiently complete the Business Readiness Check Processes.
  • Utilize a continuous improvement mind set to improve BR Check Process and associated aspects of Stage/Gate and Project execution.
  • Coordinate with the D&D Knowledge Management to capture?lessons learned from the Business Readiness Checks.? Provide support to make lesson learned information available to future projects.

Working Conditions:

  • Position is located at the job site with travel to the regions and sites as necessary to support global projects.
  • Position will require travel to domestic and international sites.? Travel time may be with minimal notice and require extended absence from the home location.?

  • Demonstrated basic knowledge in Capital Effectiveness processes.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to build relationships; successful at leading with indirect influence.
  • Proven project management skill-set applied in a cross-functional setting.?
  • Broad-based practical knowledge pertaining to all functions contributing to developing and operating a mining business.
  • Bachelor's of Science in engineering or mining related discipline.
  • At least 10 years practical experience in project development and engineering with at least 7 years related to the mining business.
  • Experience in roles at Newmont involving cross functional and operating sites of at least 5 years.
  • Supervision experience with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A proven track record in project execution and demonstrated commitment to successful implementation.
